A reader asks what Kindle Fire should he by for his wife. Let’s look at the specs and compare.
Looking at the specs on Amazon.com, we can see that the two higher end models are out of the question. Sure, they have 8.9″ screens, but they start at $299, and we know the missus isn’t gonna go for that much cheddar leaving the fridge.
This narrows our options down to two. Is it a simple matter of “To HD, or not to HD”? No. The HD version has a better screen, is slightly lighter, has more memory, a better Wi-Fi antenna, longer battery life, and 10 point multitouch vs. the lesser model’s 2 point touch. All this for an extra 50 beans, or 5,000 beans, depending on if ‘beans’ represent dollars or cents. This is one of the problems with metaphor.
