Torchwood Star Increases Arrow’s Geek Factor

Comics, Movies/TV

As the fall season eeks closer, it’s time to start thinking about what television shows you want to add to your viewing schedule. For those who enjoy comic books, one of the obvious choices would be Arrow on The CW. And thanks to a new Geek-tastic (yeah, I said that) casting announced today, that choice became even more obvious.

While Arrow’s pilot has been overall well received by critics, there is always the question if they will be able to maintain the high quality that the premiere episode has. Many said it was more like a mini-movie than a pilot episode. So how do you keep that high level going? By continuing to add stars to the cast that not only understand how to handle this type of fanbase, but will also bring in some of their own is a good start.

John Barrowman, best known for playing Captain Jack Harkness on Torchwood, a part of the Doctor Who franchise, has signed on to play a recurring character who has no apparent name. The casting sheet only lists him as “Well Dressed Man.” That could mean one of two things. One is that his character just has no name a la Cigarette Smoking Man on X-Files. But, the more likely option is that he is playing someone that is a major part of The Green Arrow mythology and they don’t want to give it away.

All we know for sure is that he is a prominent figure in Starling City and he knows the Queen family. So, who do you think he is? And how excited are you by this casting choice? Are you more likely to watch?

Arrow premieres on The CW Wednesday, October 10th at 8/7c and is followed by the other “signifcantly more male-friendly” show on that network – Supernatural.
