It has been confirmed that Daniel Cudmore will reprise his role as Colossus in the upcoming X-men: Days of Future Past. Director Bryan Singer tweeted the image below which features Cudmore’s head shot alongside the rest of the confirmed cast for this upcoming film.
While not the most exciting news or photography from an upcoming film here is a picture of the wheelchairs both the young and elder Professor X will wheel around in from the new X-men film. There are minor differences but both seem to be akin to the style the Professor prefers. This film is shaping up to be jam apcked with familiar mutants all battling for the survival of their race. More news as it develops.
Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones and The Station Agent has been cast for the upcoming X-men: Days of Future Past. His role has not been specified as of yet but everyone is assuming he will play Puck of Alpha Flight due to him being the most well known super heroic little person in the X-men universe. He could still play someone else but this is the odds on favorite. Personally I’m hoping he plays Doop.
It was announced over the weekend that Anna Paquin, Ellen Paige and Shawn Ashmore would all be returning to the X-men franchise. They will be taking on their roles of Rogue, Kitty Pryde and Iceman respectively.
Bryan Singer tweeted the following confirming their return:
Very excited to welcome
#annapaquin, @ellenpage & @shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast – thank
@BrettRatner for letting them live!
Bryan Singer who was recently announced as returning to the X-men universe to direct X-men: Days of Future Past had the following to say via his Twitter today.
‘I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, & Nicholas Hoult to #XMEN for #DaysOfFuturePast’
‘Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @SirPatStew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX More to come…’
This returns McAvoy as a younger Professor X, Fassbender as the younger Magneto, Lawrence as Mystique and Hoult as Beast. Patrick Stewart returns to his role as the elder Professor Xavier while Ian McKellan returns as the older Magneto.
It will be very interesting to see where they go with this as X-men 3: Last Stand killed off Professor X and de-powered Magneto. Will this just be an alternate timeline or will (fingers crossed) X-men 3 be disregarded and we go on as if that was an out of continuity story so as to keep many X-men alive and connect the stories more cohesively. We shall see.
Whoever created the image above…kudos to you. I dig it and I have been hoping for awhile that one of these comic book movies would do a series of real world movie posters based on classic comic book covers. Maybe they will this time around. Fingers crossed. Below are a couple of small news items regarding the new Wolverine and X-men movies in the works. While not too spoilerish they are cool bits of info on these two upcoming mutant movies.
Bryan Singer is back in the X-men director’s chair as he is confirmed to direct the X-men: First Class sequel. Matthew Vaughn decided not to come back after the success of the first film choosing instead to pursue other film interests such as The Secret Service, a comic currently being done by Mark Millar. Singer directed both X-men and X-2. Both were great comic movies with X-2 proving to be pretty exceptional. This sequel subtitled Days of Future Past will of course deal with that famous story arc. This will allow for a lot of faces from the X-universe to show up. I look forward to more announcements as this nears production.
