best-of-2012

It’s about that time to say goodbye to 2012 and hello to the new year. Thinking and looking back at the year there were a lot of great entertainment releases in music, film, books and games. Before we start getting amped up for what 2013 has in store I thought I’d go back and offer up my picks for my own best of 2012 in various categories. These are my own personal choices and do not reflect how well something did for ratings or sales or how much it was pushed in front of our faces. Not your list or their list. They are the movies, games and the such I got the most enjoyment out of and the best experiences. When I find something that good I just have to share it. So if you have also enjoyed these items right on and high five. If not then click on the pictures for most of them are links and go grab a copy of your own. There was no clear winner for me in any particular category so this will just be my top choices in no particular order. Here are my Fizmarble picks for the Best of 2012.

All New X-Men #4

Cyclops faces his younger self and the other 4 original X-men in this first confrontation between the two groups. What will younger Cyke think seeing the elder aligned with Magneto? What will older Cyclops think in seeing Jean Grey in the flesh once more? This is probably my favorite of the new Marvel NOW titles. It’s a different approach and I feel is a really good way of putting things into perspective of how far things have changed. Cyclops has shifted from the ideals of Professor X to more along the lines of Magneto. He has become a villain in the eyes of most while a hero to others in the mutant community. It’s the most interesting he has ever been and looking back at what he has gone through over the years it really does make sense. He has been affected and transformed as a result. I see him leading the Brotherhood of Mutants one day. Good read and story. Check it out.

All New X-men #1

I like this idea. Many, many years have gone by since the X-men were started by Professor X. He wanted to create a group to help mutant kind but also represent the best of them and the hopes of peaceful co-habitation with humans. Fast forward those man, many years and much has happened. Ups and downs. Deaths. A near genocide of the mutant population. Cyclops becoming a bit more like Magneto and in the process killing the Professor. Oh how far they have come and how far they have fallen. So how would those young innocent rookie X-men react to seeing their future. How would those who have experienced so much deal with seeing their previous selves before the tragedies and the mistakes. This new series looks at that as the two sides come face to face and most don’t like what they see.
