Some Music to Take You Into the Weekend – DeYarmond Edison

Before Justin Vernon became the lead creative force in Bon Iver he was the frontman for DeYarmond Edison. They put out two albums before parting ways. The remaining members went on to form the band Megafaun. With his older band Vernon did not use the higher range falsetto style vocals that he is known for in Bon Iver. It is more his true voice and where Bon Iver works in minimalist layers here the music is more stripped down and acoustic. It is more intimate and at times even sadder then those heart string tuggers in Bon Iver. Above is one of my favorite songs off the Silent Signs album but do yourself a favor and search out for more on Youtube or pick these albums up. They are worthy of notice and who knows they might just be a future favorite of yours in the waiting.
